GENERAL INFORMATION

We are a Class A licensed and insured Design/Build firm located in Arlington, Virginia. We pride ourselves in the design and construction of affordable yet functional renovations that add the amenities of today to Northern Virginia's older homes. Our office is located in  Arlington at 5852 Washington Boulevard, Suite 8. We have developed an expertise in renovating older homes over the past twelve years. 

We have expierence in navigating the Arlington County variance process and in the new Fairfax County Special permit process that was just approved in July 2006.

THE DESIGN/BUILD PROCESS

Renovating your home can seem daunting at times, here at TCook Company we have developed a process to assist you in the decisions made during the design and the construction of your project.  Unlike utilizing an architect, Design/Build allows the design to better match the budget of the customer with the plans that are developed.  This can save time and energy, who wants to have their dream home designed only to find out the cost to construct the project is out of reach.

At the initial meeting, a copy of your plat or survey is studied to see if there are any variances required for the project.  Once you have selected TCook Company to design and build your addition a design meeting is set where you will convey your design objectives.  All design fees are credited toward the construction contract.  As soon as the design process has begun you are put on our construction schedule. Digital photos are taken of the existing conditions.  A design presentation meeting is setup for you to review the designs and make changes.  When the design is finalized a construction contract is then executed. 

This process can typically takes from 4-8 weeks depending upon the scope of the project.  Plan review by the local permit office can take up to 4 weeks.
